Providence artist and salty person Olivia Horvath made this well-considered zine, qtz. Mine came in an envelope made from the same green cardstock as the cover. The best of these drawings give me a taste of the escape I felt looking at detailed environments in Calvin & Hobbes Sunday pages when I was a kid. There are drawings in brush lines, and wash, but the pencil drawings sing with the most range. The figure drawings sit solid and supple. The best compliment I can give it is that it made me wanna draw.

ics aboutTiny Bangs Awarded a 2012 Xeric Grant

I am thrilled to announce that I’ve been selected as one of the 2012 recipients of the Xeric Foundation’scomic book self-publishing grant!
This is the last round of awardees ever (they will be concentrating on grants for charitable arts organizations) and I am so thankful to all my friends and collaborators who encouraged me to apply and guided me through it despite my doubts. The foundation will be releasing a list of the other winners soon, so definitely keep an eye out.

The grant will enable me to release a new edition of Tiny Bangs #1 at the same time that I’ll be putting out the second issue (hopefully early fall) and to hopefully gain larger distribution. More exciting updates to come! And again, thank you (you know who you are) for the endless inspiration, encouragement and support.

AAAAAHHHH CONGRATS, you deserve it!!!!!
