I was accepted to CAKE, the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo! Which is exciting, but it also means I need to come up with the cash to pay for the table. I’m going to be doing watercolors this month, so stay tuned!
These guys are also now available in my store. They’re original art, so there’s only one of each.

Today I’ve sent off my application to the book arts festival! Even if I don’t get in, I’ve got some new books that will be in the store in November, and I’m going to consign them to some places in Minneapolis. This concludes all my deadlines this week, now all I have to do is plan a detailed itinerary for France that I can chuck out the moment I get there.
Also, there’s going to be a documentary film crew at work sometime this week, so it’s clean-everything-and-make-ourselves-look-fancier-than-we-really-are time.
Reverie, 2011
“I’m going to France soon. I’ll be there for two weeks. I’m hoping to do a tremendous amount of drawing, and reach some sort of realization. I’ve been listening to a lot of Chopin and Debussy late at night…” (x)
Formatting Going Back all-night coffee party! Tomorrow I’m screenprinting the covers. November they’ll be hitting the store. Book arts yay!
Here’s a painting I cut from the final book. Going Back is clocking in at 46 pages right now, and with the type of binding I’m using, I can’t really push it furthur than that. So! Paintings have been cut. When I’m not super busy I’ll post all the rejects to the blog, but until then, have a sketch of a rainy Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island from September 6, 2011.
Here’s the hand-painted type for the cover of my new book art piece, Going Back. The final cover will be screenprinted, so these only play a small role, but I wanted to give them their due.
Maybe you’ll find them interesting; where my hand-drawn type nerds at?
